DONKEY DAYS
(Not) Exercising (but plenty of) Kindness
Lucky me – I’ve just spent a few days at Safe Haven for Donkeys’ wonderful
sanctuary in Israel and I thought of you! You are all about exercising and all about
kindness and I thought you may like to see a few pictures of donkeys exercising –
except exercising is not their strong point! So here are a few of donkeys doing
what they are supremely good at – NOT exercising. Unlike so many working
donkeys who seldom get a chance to rest our donkeys certainly do. It is such a
privilege to get close to sleepy donkeys because they have learned that no-one is
going to hurt them anymore and they can truly relax - the absolutely epitome of
sanctuary. These pictures were taken as the sun rose.

Whilst not hitting the athletic highspots that you aspire to I can tell you that donkeys
excel at kindness and what better example of that than to let your friend lean his
heavy head on you. In the midst of chaos and destruction in the Middle East these
donkeys show us how precious peace can be. We can learn a lot from donkeys.
