About
🌲 FOREST BATHING Switch Off. Step Outside. Breathe. You don't have to run through the forest. You don't even have to walk very far. Sometimes, one of the healthiest things we can do is simply slow down, breathe and notice the world around us. Forest bathing — known as Shinrin-yoku in Japan — isn't about literally bathing! It's the simple practice of spending unhurried, mindful time amongst trees and nature, using your senses to reconnect with your surroundings. There are no targets, no step counts and no prizes for getting there fastest. In fact, the whole point is to slow down. 🌿 WHY TRY FOREST BATHING? - Modern life is noisy. - Phones, emails, work, traffic, notifications, screens, responsibilities and never-ending lists. Our bodies might occasionally stop, but our brains often don't. - Forest bathing gives us permission to step away from all that stimulation and simply be somewhere rather than achieve something. - Spending intentional time in natural surroundings can support our mental wellbeing, helping us feel calmer, more grounded and connected to the world around us. - And unlike many wellbeing activities, you don't need a gym membership, experience, specialist equipment… you just need a little nature and some time! 🌳 YOU DON'T NEED A FOREST Don't have beautiful ancient woodland nearby? Try a: - Local park - Nature reserve - Garden - Tree-lined path - Quiet riverside - Field or countryside footpath - Peaceful outdoor space with plants, trees and birds Forest bathing isn't really about where you go, it’s about how you experience where you are.
